The arrival of covid and subsequent lockdowns saw a huge jump in online sales, particularly in the homeware category as consumers were naturally spending more time at home. However, consumers needed the confidence to buy large items online without first having the opportunity to experience them in the showroom.
A seamless data integration between the online store, the ERP and Shopify POS empowered sales associates could easily log in and access or modify the information as needed—in real-time. There is also a seamless flow of data now since the company was able to integrate its existing ERP system and connect different applications across the business.
Although the initial brief was to develop a Shopify Plus Online Store for Singapore, OD also needs to account for other Southeast Asian markets, starting with Malaysia as well sister brand, CB2.
Overdose used a smart approach to design ideation and adaptation and Shopify Plus gave us the flexibility to design for multiple brands and markets.
The Crate & Barrel Singapore site was missing the brand story that communicates minimalist lifestyle design. We made sure besides communicating the brand story, the user journey was well crafted both on desktop and more importantly on mobile. With a wide range of products and categories, users must have a guided journey when browsing through the site, hence the tiered mega-menu with visual cues. There is also the challenge of offering to users the different kinds of services that Crate & Barrel provides to their customers which we’ve communicated subtly and seamlessly throughout the site.
