Through a trusted, multi-year partnership with the Overdose Australian team, Amer Sports has successfully introduced some of its most iconic brands—including Wilson, Salomon, Arc'teryx, and most recently, Atomic Ski—into the APAC market using Shopify. By tailoring each Shopify storefront to the needs of APAC consumers, Amer Sports has been able to navigate these new markets smoothly, achieving impressive growth and building stronger brand visibility across the region.

The Overdose Australia team's partnership with Amer Sports continues to evolve, building on a strong foundation of success. Most recently, we've integrated Shopify POS to unify online and retail operations across Arc'teryx, Wilson, and Salomon stores. This integration has created a more consistent and efficient experience for inventory management and sales tracking, enabling Amer Sports to offer seamless, innovative omnichannel shopping experiences.

By leveraging shared resources—such as SAP integration, apps, and a unified store structure—Amer Sports has streamlined its operations and fostered greater brand cohesion across its portfolio. This approach not only strengthens each brand's presence in the competitive APAC retail market but also supports their continued growth across the region.

Integrations

Overdose had the opportunity to work closely with Amer Sports to create a flexible integration framework that really met the day-to-day needs of their teams across multiple brands and platforms. The goal was to connect Shopify POS, SAP, Klaviyo, and DataJet in a way that would make life easier for the Amer team and improve the shopping experience for customers.

We started by customising their ERP system (SAP) to handle in-store and online orders separately, using DataJet to adapt to specific needs like returns, exchanges, and different sales workflows. This setup made order processing smoother and gave the team better control over what’s happening in-store versus online.

To make sure Amer could run online-only promotions and loyalty discounts just for digital customers, we introduced Shopify Functions along with variant metafields. This approach let us segment prices without affecting what’s shown in-store on POS, so Amer could offer special online-only deals hassle-free.

In-store, we added a POS extension that lets the team capture just enough customer info—like postcodes—without needing full addresses. This simple step helped Amer gain insights into where their in-store shoppers are coming from, making reporting much easier.

We also used Shopify Flow to automatically tag orders by store location, feeding this into Klaviyo so the marketing team could create targeted campaigns based on store visits. This new framework is scalable, letting Amer quickly roll it out to more brands and stores. Overall, it’s an efficient, unified setup that keeps everything connected. It’s designed to help Amer make the most of both their in-store and online channels.

Challenge

CHALLENGE #001
Customising ERP Integration to Distinguish POS & Web Orders

The business had some complex mapping requirements in their ERP for how they wished to handle in-store orders/returns/exchanges in comparison to web.

SOLUTION

Adapted existing integration using DataJet to send flat-files to FTP meeting their custom mapping needs for how the business wished to handle POS orders in their ERP.

CHALLENGE #002
Online-Only Sales Campaigns

Amer runs sales campaigns exclusively online. However, since POS inherits pricing and discounts from Shopify, a solution was needed to allow online-only sales without affecting POS pricing.

SOLUTION

We populated sale prices for online-only sales into a variant metafield, rather than using the native Shopify price fields (which apply across both online and POS). Shopify Functions were then leveraged to apply discounts online based on the values from that variant metafield, ensuring a seamless experience for online customers while keeping POS pricing intact.

CHALLENGE #003
Early Access for Loyalty Customers To Online-Only Sales Campaigns

Salomon's loyalty program offers early access to sales for customer accounts, but they needed a solution to prevent these discounts from applying in-store.

SOLUTION

Using Shopify Functions, we applied a similar approach to the online-only sales solution. By reading data from variant metafields, we were able to apply discounts for loyalty customers only on the online store, ensuring that in-store pricing remained unaffected.

CHALLENGE #004
Enhancing In-Store Reporting with Location Data

They found some customers were reluctant to provide their full address when making in-store purchases, which made it difficult to accurately track and report on customer locations.

SOLUTION

A third-party POS extension was implemented to enable in-store sales staff to input just the postcode into a custom field, bypassing the need for a full address, while still capturing essential location data for reporting purposes.

CHALLENGE #005
Connecting In-Store Customer Purchases with Marketing Automation

The team wanted to create targeted customer segments in Klaviyo based on the specific store where customers had made purchases, to improve marketing efforts.

SOLUTION

Shopify Flow was used to tag orders by POS location, and corresponding customer segments were set up in Klaviyo for each store. These segments included customers with at least one order from that location, enabling tailored marketing communications.
