#096 : Stevie Rogers @ Rogers Sporting Goods

#096 : This week on chill, we chat with Stevie Rogers, Part Owner, Head Buyer and Head of Marketing at Rogers Sporting Goods!

We love a good story. When we think of Rogers Sporting Goods we think of authenticity and authority in the outdoor space.

Rogers Sporting Goods is an industry icon in the hunting and fishing industry. Passed down from generation to generation, the company has grown from just selling fishing lures to now being a leader in their industry as a fishing and hunting outfitter. Jim Rogers, the progenitor of Rogers Sporting Goods, conceptualized the business by selling fishing lures and competing as a professional fisherman in 1957. By 1980’s Rogers Sporting Goods was Missouri’s largest retailer for hunting and fishing performance gear. They expanded to an online webstore in the early 2000’s. Suddenly their brick-and-mortar store was reaching customers all over the country. Demand heavily increased, and they began planning and preparing for an increase in assets.

Rogers Sporting Goods is a family-owned and family-run business. They are proud of that. Their family ideals are what make them the giant they are today.

Overdose. America’s Director of Strategy, Van Schlichting speaks with Stevie and hears the story first-hand, on what it takes to run a great outdoor company and what their plans for the future are.
