Barkers & Max
The migration had to carry more than products and pages. Established customer accounts, loyalty balances, fulfilment rules and organic-search foundations all needed to move with the brands, while preserving their separate identities across two countries.
The project
Barkers and Max share a retail group but serve different customers: menswear for Barkers and womenswear for Max. Overdose had worked with both brands on Adobe Commerce before the decision to move to Shopify Plus.
The project established dedicated Shopify instances for each brand, with Shopify Markets supporting New Zealand and Australia. Separate marketing and customer-service accounts maintained brand-level workflows.
OnTempo remained central to operations. Its integration covered stock, orders, loyalty, gift cards and promotions, while phased cutovers and custom migration scripts supported the transition from the existing platforms.

Integrations
OnTempo manages stock, orders, fulfilment, loyalty, gift cards and promotions across Barkers and Max. The move to Shopify Plus needed those functions to work across four storefronts while each brand kept its own customer communications and service workflows. Overdose extended its OnTempo Integration Accelerator on AWS for the brands’ data patterns and Shopify Markets setup. Klaviyo, Zendesk and Foursixty were connected at brand level. The result is a common retail integration with distinct customer-facing operations for Barkers and Max in New Zealand and Australia.

Experience
UX & UI
Loyalty needed to stay visible during shopping, not sit solely inside an account page. The team added points information to product and cart pages so customers could see what a purchase would earn.
Account pages were also adapted for New Zealand and Australian reward balances, redemption options and tiers. The interface gives each market’s customers a clearer view of how their benefits apply.
