Better Music
Better Music moved to Shopify Plus while keeping NetSuite central, translating stock feeds from around twenty suppliers into clearer online availability for specialist music shoppers.
The Project
Better Music is an independent music retailer in Canberra, serving first-time players, working musicians and audio professionals. Its online catalogue has more than 20,000 active SKUs, with stock from its store and around twenty suppliers. Overdose had built the Magento environment and later supported its Adobe Commerce upgrade. The move to Shopify Plus aimed to reduce the work of running the platform and make day-to-day change easier.
Together, Better Music and Overdose remapped NetSuite and Celigo, translated supplier feeds into clearer online availability, rebuilt promotions around the ERP, and prepared the cutover through staging tests and redirects. The launch was followed by stabilisation and ongoing support.

Integrations
NetSuite remains Better Music's source of truth for product pricing and fulfillment. Rather than replace middleware the business had already invested in, the project remapped its existing Celigo setup from Adobe Commerce to Shopify Plus. Product, media, inventory, customer and order data move across those pipelines, with inventory synchronised on a fifteen-minute cycle. Supplier stock sits outside that core pipeline. Around twenty feeds arrive in CSV or Excel through FTP, Dropbox and email, then pass through DataJet so different columns and availability conventions can be translated into a consistent structure for the storefront. Shopify Flow and Discount Kit support promotional rules without writing campaign pricing back into the catalogue. Elevar and Google Tag Manager provide the analytics layer, while Shippit supports shipping operations.

Designing for Specialist Product Research
Better Music serves first-time players and experienced musicians who often know the exact instrument, model or specification they need. The site has to support both discovery and precise product research without making a large catalogue harder for the team to manage. Category paths and mobile shortcuts keep important destinations close to the surface. Product specifications are organised by category, so details such as pickup configuration, string count or wattage appear where they help someone make a choice. Flexible Shopify content blocks let Better Music update promotions and category content without a development request for every change.
Client love.
“Moving from Adobe Commerce to Shopify Plus was a significant change for us. We have a detailed product catalogue, stock coming from many suppliers and a NetSuite integration that is central to how we operate. Overdose understood that complexity and worked through the migration with our team, rather than treating it like a standard replatform. We now have a storefront that is easier to manage and a platform we can keep improving.”
