Jaycar InStore
Separate online and in-store systems made information harder to access during customer conversations. The project addressed that disconnect through a shared commerce architecture and tools that put relevant data within reach of store associates.
The project
Jaycar sells electronics, components and accessories across Australia and New Zealand. Online customers could find product information quickly, while store associates often had to return to a fixed terminal to check details during a customer conversation.
Overdose worked with Jaycar and commercetools on a composable commerce platform and an InStore pilot at selected outlets. The stack brought together commercetools, Alokai, Contentstack, Algolia and Adyen. Fixed terminals and mobile devices gave associates access to inventory, product and customer information, while shared carts connected online browsing with in-store purchases.

Integrations
A customer can begin a cart online and continue it with an associate in store, or save a cart built in store for later online purchase. Shared product and inventory information helps staff answer questions without leaving the customer on the shop floor. The commerce layer also supports cross-channel payments and returns. These capabilities were introduced through Jaycar’s InStore pilot; the published partner story does not establish a completed rollout to every store.

Client love.
“We’re embracing a truly unified retail strategy. Rather than doing what we did 10 years ago, which was to try to glue together and integrate disparate systems, we're building things in a composable way and getting the best pieces we need. Now, with commercetools Composable Commerce for B2C and InStore, we launched an in-store commerce engine and added ratings, reviews and loyalty management in just 7 weeks.”
